New Community Fire Station
Completed in 2015 this project involved the provision of new community fire station, in Alsager, on a town centre site that was originally used as a refuse depot. The original site was cleared except for the main portal framed garage block which was retained to form the core of the new station.
The retained building was extensively refurbished including infilling openings, new highly insulated roof coverings and provision of insulated render and timber cladding externally. Two extensions were also added, one to enlarge part of the existing garage to accommodate fire appliances, whilst the second extension formed the new entrance to the station and provided community facilities. A new training tower was also constructed.
The interior of the building was fully fitted out to provide new facilities including locker room, gym and staff showers / toilets. New mains services and drainage were provided and the building incorporates a number of energy saving features including air source heat pumps, PV panels and LED lighting with controls. A misting sprinkler system was also installed.
