Fire Reinstatement – Chester

Telfords Warehouse, a public house and dwelling suffered major damage in a fire, which resulted in the loss of the roof structure and significant parts of the upper floors.

To prevent further damage to the lower floors, a temporary roof needed to be constructed over the building as soon as possible.

The reinstatement works included the replacement of floors, remedial works to fire and water damaged elements of the structure and the complete re-construction of the roof, including replacement of large timber trusses.

The location of the building presented a number of problems, with one elevation fronting directly onto a canal, another adjoining a weak road bridge and a third being close to an adjoining property.

Working with the client and scaffolding contractor, a safe method of working was developed to allow the scaffold to be constructed above the canal. A scaffold platform was also created within the building to allow for safe access to re-assemble the roof.
