Social Sustainability

We are an environmentally responsible business and have implemented measures to reduce our carbon emissions and the consumption of energy, fuels and water through the principles of reducing, re-using and re-cycling.

In 2012 we embarked on a 10 year carbon reduction plan aimed at achieving a 5% reduction per annum with target goal of a 50% reduction by the end of 2021. The actual reduction achieved was 56%, including an 80% reduction in carbon emissions from business mileage.

We are now embarking on the second 10 year programme and based on the current data on emissions we forecast that we will achieve net zero by 2030. Since 2021 we adopted offsetting to allow us to be carbon neutral until net zero is achieved.

Social Communities

We recognise that others are less fortunate than ourselves and we are dedicated to providing support to maximise the social value and beneficial impact that we can bring to the communities in which we operate. This is delivered in partnership with the clients, contractors and consultants we work with and includes:

  • Work placements for students
  • Free advice for charities and other community organisations
  • Participation in volunteer days
  • Providing support and business to start up businesses and other SME’s
  • Donations to support good causes

In 2015 we provided sponsorship to both Cheshire Fire Cadets, for their Nepal School Building Project and Birkenhead School Parents Association, whilst in 2016 we supported The Wirral Chamber Rucksack Challenge through the donation of food, clothing and other supplies to help local homeless persons over Christmas.
