Foundation Unit Extension
This project involved the construction of an extension to front of a primary school to provide a new Foundation Unit for reception and nursery classes complete with a secure external play area. A second classroom extension was also constructed to the rear of the school to replace a mobile classroom.
The new foundation unit was formed through extending a classroom in two directions to form an integrated unit with two teaching spaces separated by a folding screen wall. New toilets were also provided together with a teaching kitchen.
A secure external play area was formed complete with safety surfacing and play equipment. To encourage through play a canopy was installed and each class space provided with folding external doors to allow free flow between the internal and external spaces.
To the rear of the school a mobile classroom was replaced with a single storey classroom extension complete with a link corridor to the existing corridor and Hall. Additional parking was also created to the front of the site.
