New Build Classroom Block – Cheshire

This project was delivered as part of a design and build contract with the design being developed from feasibilty through to detailed design by the contractors design team.

Designed to replace three dilapidated mobile classrooms this project involved the construction of a new build two storey classroom block to provide eight new classrooms, four of which were designed for ICT teaching.

Two of the classrooms were divided by an acoustic rated sliding folding wall to allow the spaces to be combined for special events and to allow the room to be hired to external organisations outside term time.

Both the ground and first floor were designed with wide corridors to facilitate pupil movement and natural lighting was incorporated through feature glazing to the stairwells and main entrance. Ancillary accommodation included an office, staff kitchen, two groups rooms and an accessible toilet. Provision has been made in the main staircase design for a future lift installation.

• Co-ordination of design team including specialist consultants
• Obtaining statutory approvals including planning permission
• Preparation of detailed drawings and specifications
