Community Training Facilities

Completed in December 2010 this project involved the construction of a new Community Training Facility within the grounds of a fire station. Used by the Fire Service for training in breathing apparatus search and rescue, ladder and height safety training, the facility also incorporates a demonstration facility that allows for public viewings of chip pan fires.

The non-standard nature of the building meant the design was required to consider how materials and products would function, for example with exposure to fire, and how to provide safe but practical training. Movable internal walls allow the building layout to be changed into multiple configurations.
